Moonshot AI Unveils Kimi K3, the World's Largest Open Weight AI Model

Chinese AI startup Moonshot AI has introduced Kimi K3, a 2.8 trillion-parameter open-weight AI model designed for advanced reasoning, coding, and knowledge intensive tasks. Featuring a 1 million token context window, Kimi K3 is one of the largest open weight AI models ever released and is positioned as a direct competitor to leading models from OpenAI and Anthropic. Early benchmark results suggest the model delivers competitive performance while offering developers the flexibility of an open weight architecture. 

With this launch, Moonshot AI joining companies such as DeepSeek in challenging the dominance of U.S. AI developers. By combining frontier-level capabilities with an open-weight approach, Kimi K3 aims to make advanced AI more accessible for enterprises and developers building next-generation AI applications.
